Christmas is just around the corner and by now, many households will have broken out their old box of decorations from the loft or cupboards, as well as their trusty set of lights for the tree. While doing this, you might notice a single red light on each string. ‌

This may appear to be a spare but it turns out they actually have a hidden purpose that many don't know about. If you swap out the red tip light with a regular one on the string, you will find it activates a little known setting. ‌

This was discovered by TikTok user @VizNelly, who shared what happens when you replace one of the light bulbs with the red 'spare'. Her post on the video platform has gone fully viral, racking up over 24million views and close to two million likes. ‌
