U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) ripped Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the controversial military strike in the Caribbean that killed two survivors on Sept. 2.
Hegseth has faced major backlash after news reports found that the U.S. authorized a second strike in the Caribbean that killed two men in the water who survived the initial attack on an alleged drug boat. While Hegseth initially said the Washington Post report was “fake news,” the White House confirmed on Monday that the second strike happened.
Now, Hegseth is claiming that he did not watch the second strike happen that day. In comments to reporters on Tuesday, Paul said Hegseth was either “lying” about his knowledge of the strike or was “incompetent.”
