MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Amazon this holiday season to help residents reduce package theft as online shopping increases.
The effort is part of a nationwide initiative led by the National Sheriff’s Association that promotes steps customers can take to deter porch piracy while allowing deputies to focus on emergency calls.
“Package theft not only impacts our residents during what should be a joyful season, but it also strains our limited law enforcement resources,” Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said. “When our community members take simple precautions to protect their deliveries, they are helping us direct our deputies’ time and attention to more serious emergency situations.”
