LINCOLN, Neb. —

Husker standout Emmett Johnson earned major hardware from the Big Ten for his breakout season.

The conference named Johnson the Ameche-Dayne running back of the year .

He leads the Big Ten with 1,451 rushing yards this season — an average of 120.9 per game — and also had 12 rushing touchdowns.

Johnson posted the first 1,000-yard rushing season by a Husker since 2018 and is the only player in program history to have 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards in the same game.

The junior was also a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and the Doak Walker Award.
