CANFIELD - The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting an OVI checkpoint somewhere in the county on Friday, December 5.
Specific details on the checkpoint, including the time and location, will be announced shortly before the checkpoint begins.
The checkpoint will be accompanied by saturation patrols by various law enforcement agencies throughout Mahoning County to intercept and deter impaired drivers on the road.
A 1990 U.S. Supreme Court ruling requires that drivers be notified of sobriety checkpoints before they happen to avoid violating protections against illegal searches and seizures. However, the ruling did not specify what constitutes an adequate notification.
