By mid-afternoon Saturday, the Big 12 will have a first-time conference champion and, depending on which team wins, could have a pair of teams heading into the College Football Playoff.

Neither No. 4 Texas Tech nor No. 11 BYU has ever won the Big 12 crown. Tech won the Southwest Conference title in 1994. BYU, in just its third year in the Big 12, has won 23 conference titles in either the Mountain West or WAC, most recently in 2007.
