The newspaper articles — the formal legal papers — the sign on the door of his office at the high levels of the K&L Gates building — spoke of the formidable Charles J. Queenan Jr. To us, as to scores, even hundreds of Pittsburghers who fell under his sway or were beneficiaries of his counsel and friendship, he was simply Chuck.

Chuck Queenan died Wednesday night at age 95, and we miss him already.

Mr. Queenan was a giant who left footprint impressions on every block of the Pittsburgh he trod during seven decades as the face not only of his law firm but also of his adopted, but beloved, hometown.

A great Pittsburgher
