An 88-year-old Army veteran working full time at a Michigan grocery store to make ends meet is about to receive a life-changing amount of money after thousands of people donated over $1 million to help him retire.

Ed Bambas went viral on social media this week after Australian influencer Samuel Weidenhofer shared a video of Bambas opening up about his financial struggles. The influencer uses his platform to find people in need and helps raise money for them.

Weidenhofer said he located Bambas working at a Meijer grocery store in Brighton.
