FAIRMONT — The Fairmont boys basketball team came up short in overtime in Wednesday’s 70-63 nonconference loss to Scotland inside Michael D. Baker Gymnasium.
Scotland (2-0) outscored Fairmont (1-3) 13-6 in the overtime period after the teams were tied 57-57 at the close of regulation. Fairmont made two field goals in the extra session.
The Golden Tornadoes held a 49-38 lead with 4:21 to go in regulation before Scotland closed on a 19-8 run to tie the game. Naz Campbell hit two free throws for the Scots to tie the score with 14 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
