An 88-year-old Metro Detroit man who works at a grocery store to make ends meet is getting some help from a social media personality — and gaining attention.
Ed Bambas recently met Samuel Weidenhofer, a YouTuber, TikToker, blogger, and Instagram personality, as the elder man was working. After their encounter, Weidenhofer launched an online fundraiser for him.
"I want to introduce you all to Ed Bambas, a man I met recently in a Detroit supermarket who completely humbled me," Weidenhofer wrote on the GoFundMe page he created this week to raise $1 million for Bambas.
As of Thursday morning, the page had raised more than $1.5 million.
