A Green Bay area custom metal manufacturer will invest about $76 million to open a new manufacturing plant in the Des Moines, Iowa, metro area in 2027.

De Pere-based Robinson Inc. on Dec. 4 announced plans to lease a new, 560,000-square-foot industrial space just outside of Altoona, Iowa, about 20 minutes northeast of Des Moines. The manufacturing space will be built to suit Robinson's needs and is expected to begin operations in January 2027.

Robinson since 2020 has significantly expanded its Wisconsin operations in De Pere and Manitowoc , including the April purchase of a Town of Lawrence office building . The Altoona-area facility will be the company's first outside Wisconsin.
