Designer Mattias Gollin is getting ready to release his latest work with Vans , an artisanal spin on the skate brand’s classic Authentic sneaker.
Renamed “Authentiche,” the launch of the Mattias Gollin x Vans Authentic follows months of teasers from the designer, who previously worked with the brand on three “Nice Vans ” Slip-Ons in 2024.
This time around, Gollin goes all-in on his signature beaded treatment, covering the 1966 skate shoe in 2,000 hand-embellished gems. Playing off of Vans’ iconic checkerboard pattern, the luxe spin on the Authentic combines black and white stones with a dash of gold. The gems are applied in the Marche region of Italy and are made up of a mix of pearls and crystals. Gollin says each pair takes up to eight hours to complete.
