The NDP is calling on the provincial government to come up with an action plan to address the impact of changing climate conditions.

MHA Sheilagh O’Leary, a long-time climate activist, says she was surprised to hear the premier dismiss suggestions linking oil exploration and the recent drought and wildfires in the province over the summer.

“They are directly related,” O’Leary told the Tim Powers Show. “CO2 Levels are a result of burning fossil fuels. We’re getting hotter, dryer summers.” She says that’s had a direct impact on fires, a lack of water for farmers, and less snowfall in the winter months. “There’s just so much happening, and the reality is, we need to have a plan.”
