Private equity firm sells Akron-based Country Pure Foods

Akron-based Country Pure Foods has been sold to Peterson Brands, part of the Shelby, Michigan-based Peterson Farms Family of Companies .

Country Pure Foods — previously owned by Cleveland-based private equity firm Blue Point Capital Partners — produces juices, plant-based drinks and frozen foods, according to its website.

The Akron-based business's brands include Ardmore Farms, VBlend, SideKicks, FUN!, Glacier Valley and VitaMost, the Peterson Farms Family of Companies said in a news release. Country Pure Foods' products are in K-12 schools, restaurants, health care facilities and grocery stores.

Country Pure Foods has additional locations in Florida, the release said.

Blue Point, which purchased Country Pure Foods six years ago, made a separate announcement.
