UPDATE: Whitfield County deputies attempted to stop a wrong-way driver before the crash on Interstate 75 southbound that killed all three people inside the vehicle.

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office said all three people inside the vehicle, traveling the wrong direction on the interstate, died. Deputies believe the driver was impaired.

Deputies attempted to stop the driver for erratic driving, speeding, and driving in and out of lanes, but the driver pulled a U-turn and began driving the wrong way on the interstate.

The vehicle struck a semi-truck and another vehicle. The semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver in the third vehicle was not injured.
