The Steelers have have made linebacker Alex Highsmith their nominee for this year’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award,
The award recognizes players for their commitment to community service and excellence on the field.
Each NFL team announced its nominee Thursday. The national winner will be announced during the NFL Honors awards ceremony Feb. 5.
Among the other nominees are Ravens running back Derrick Henry and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“I am so humbled, honored, and grateful to be the Steelers’ nominee for this year’s Walter Payton Man of The Year,” Highsmith said in a statement.
The Alex Highsmith Family Foundation works with charities in Pittsburgh; Wilmington, N.C., Highsmith’s hometown; and Charlotte, where Highsmith played college football.
