PHILADELPHIA — The degree of difficulty for the Eagles to go into SoFi Stadium and pull off a much-needed victory against the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night just grew significantly with the news that they’ll be without Jalen Carter.

A league source confirmed a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Carter underwent a procedure on both of his shoulders this week and he will miss his third game of the season, leaving the Eagles thin in the middle of their defensive line. Schefter reported that Carter’s status will be week to week and that the Eagles are hoping he can be 100% healthy by the start of the postseason.

Carter, after being a second-team All Pro last season, has been dealing with a shoulder issue since early in training camp, but this will be the first game he has missed
