ALBANY, New York (WWNY) - Governor Hochul’s office calls on North Star Health Alliance to provide “basic information” in order to receive further funding as Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center undergoes a transformation into a new business model.
Earlier Thursday, state and federal lawmakers said New York State funding stopped flowing in for North Star Health Alliance at a critical point as the health care group transitions Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center into a critical access hospital and behavioral health hospital.
It puts the facilities on the brink of crisis as hospital leaders and elected officials say they are doing what they can to make payroll next week. The health care group employs 1700 people and has a $5.5 million dollar payroll every 2 weeks.
