Detectives are investigating the death of Florida-based rapper POORSTACY, and the woman he was staying with before his death is being held Thursday in a local jail on a child neglect charge , according to police and public records.

The 26-year-old performer, whose real name was Carlito Mitford Jr., died Saturday after he was rushed to the Delray Medical Center for treatment following an "incident" at a hotel in the city of Boca Raton, local police said.

So far, the cause of death has not been released. But police have confirmed that Nicole Grikstas, the 24-year-old woman Mitford had been staying with at the Boca Raton Quality Inn along with a toddler, was taken into custody.
