The mother of a top high school wide receiver who is committed to play at Ohio State has dropped a lawsuit against the Ohio High School Athletic Association over student athletes profiting from their name, image and likeness after the organization adopted new rules.
Jasmine Brown, the mother of Jamier Brown, filed a lawsuit in October against the OHSAA in Franklin County Common Pleas Court over the organization's rules restricting NIL deals.
That lawsuit triggered an emergency vote of the member schools, which overwhelmingly voted in November to change the rules to allow NIL deals with some restrictions.
OHSAA had already been working on proposing changes to allow NIL deals, but the lawsuit expedited the timeline. A previous vote failed in 2022 .
