Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has signed a new contract to continue playing Tyrone Dobbs on the ITV soap.
The 43 year old actor started on Corrie at just 15 in 1998 and will now begin his 28th year as the cherished mechanic after signing a fresh deal.
A source revealed to The Sun: "Alan was thrilled to sign his contract earlier this year.
"He's made Tyrone into a cobbles classic so bosses are delighted he's agreed to stay for at least another year.
"There are big things coming up for the soap and Tyrone in the coming year."
Tyrone initially appeared on the cobbles with adoptive mum Jackie (Margi Clarke), swiftly becoming like a son to Weatherfield legends Jack and Vera Duckworth (Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn) and establishing his position at the core of the community
