One of the country’s oldest homebrew supply stores — a cornerstone of Portland’s craft beer scene — will close its doors this year after more than a century.

F.H. Steinbart began in 1918, founded by Prussian immigrant Franz Steinbart as a small downtown supply store near Southwest First Avenue and Oak Street. Over the next 108 years, the business shuffled through a few different locations, eventually settling on its final home at 234 S.E. 12th Ave.
The longtime establishment will sell its last bulk batch of malt before the end of the month, F.H. Steinbart announced on its website and social media this week.
