BOSTON —
There is something about the movement and action of hockey that thrills Conor McCarthy.
The game triggers enthusiastic squeals from the 8-year-old who lives in Plympton.
His mother, Shannon, said she loves the sound.
"His happy screams are like my favorite thing on this planet," she said. "He's just full of love, just pure happiness."
Conor has a genetic disorder called BPAN. It leads to iron buildup in the brain, causing worsening delays and seizures.
There is currently no cure, so creating happy memories is precious to Conor's parents.
This November, Frank Squeo traveled to meet the McCarthy family at the Boston Bruins' practice facility, Warrior Ice Arena, to surprise them with some help from the NHL team.
"We're so happy to be back here again in Boston," Squeo said.
