NORFOLK — When Lake Taylor coach Hank Sawyer calls you a “bulldog,” it’s a compliment of the highest level.
And he doesn’t the use the word lightly when describing a player.
He used it to describe James Miller, a two-time All-Tidewater player who was first-team at quarterback in 2000 and first-team at defensive back in 2001.
He also used it to describe Shiheem Johnson, who was the 2014 Abe Goldblatt All-Tidewater Player of the Year. That season, he threw for 1,992 yards, rushed for 1,204 yards and accounted for 47 touchdowns to help lead the Titans to the Group 4A state title.
Sawyer is using it again this season to describe current quarterback Kevin Adams.
