PALMERTON, Pa. — Nick Delich is the director of operations at Blue Mountain near Palmerton. He says the resort received nearly six inches of snow on Tuesday.
The snow helped them prepare for opening day, but throughout ski season, they get most of their snow artificially.
"For us here in the southern Poconos, we don't rely heavily on Mother Nature to provide us with snow," said Delich.
Like most ski areas around here, Blue Mountain uses snow guns to produce snow. But have you wondered how they actually work?
Blue Mountain has two types of snow-making machines that utilize a snow fan and an air compressor. Nick says both of these do a good job of getting the ski season started.
