This is the heartbreaking moment a dog was seized from its home in south Wales on November 25 after a healthcare worker reported it for being a banned breed. As police officers issued the warrant and met Diwy, an 11-month-old puppy living in Blaenavon, he was wagging his tail and seemingly just wanted to play.
After Diwy was taken away from his home, he was assessed by Gwent Police officers who agreed he was likely to be either an XL Bully or Pit Bull type dog, which are banned breeds in the UK.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "Our officers carried out a warrant in Pen Mynydd, Blaenavon, on Tuesday, November 25, after receiving reports of a dangerous dog at an address.
"Following a review by dog legislation officers, it was found to be a banned breed.
