An internal investigation into a packet about microaggressions with a “Wheel of Power and Privilege” that was shared with eighth graders at Henry J. McLaughlin Middle School last spring has determined the teacher involved “used unapproved curriculum materials and exposed students to materials that were not designed for students.”

The investigation, conducted by McLaughlin Principal Kelly Williams, also determined the eighth grade English/language arts teacher — who is not named in the report — violated Manchester Board of School Committee instruction policies by using the materials, and the district didn’t have permission to use or share the materials (which a section titled Cultural Fluency 2.0 Microaggressions) with students.
