The medical term is cannabis hyperemesis syndrome , or CHS.
Chronic marijuana users have been showing up to emergency rooms complaining of its symptoms, which include severe stomach pains, nausea and vomiting that can last hours.
ER doctors say they’ll see the same patients over and over again, especially teenagers, who then have to undergo tests to rule out more serious conditions.
Doctors haven’t figured out exactly what causes CHS in terms of marijuana dosage or frequency. They also don’t know why CHS hits some people and not others.
But they say it could be the rising amounts of THC now found
