LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky lawmakers say they are closely watching Fayette County Public Schools ahead of the 2026 legislative session.
Senate President Robert Stivers calls it one of the biggest issues the legislature will face this session.
“I think one of the biggest issues we have to deal with are the finances and the people who are handling the finances of our two biggest school systems,” said Stivers.
Both Jefferson and Fayette counties have faced multi-million dollar budget shortfalls.
For Fayette County Public Schools, administrator spending has been criticized by parents and community members.
“We know as being responsible policy makers in this state, whether it is in our district or not in our district, we have to be aware of public education all through the state,” St
