WACO, Texas — Two years after starting a football program from scratch, Valor Prep Academy is a state champion.
The Knights capped an undefeated season with a 51-6 rout of Lake Jackson Brazosport on Thursday afternoon at Waco ISD Stadium, clinching the title by mercy rule after three quarters. Quarterback Bear Griesemer threw six touchdown passes to multiple receivers as Valor Prep secured its first championship.
The Knights, making their first state title appearance, surged to a 22-0 lead in the opening quarter behind three Griesemer touchdown passes to three different targets. Valor Prep controlled the game throughout, closing out a 14-0 season.
