More than 150 residents were present Thursday for the official ribbon cutting of the new Idaho Falls Power Peaking Plant at 2017 E. Iona Road.
The $36 million peaking generation plant will add a 17.5-megawatt on-demand power resource that IFP can run anytime wholesale energy markets exceed the cost of operations. Plant officials said the plant will become fully functional in mid-February.
