JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has updated its 911 Communications Dispatch policy after an officer-involved shooting on Nov. 1, 2025.
During a press conference on Wednesday, State Attorney Melissa Nelson determined the shooting was justified, but she said there was a breakdown in communication that night after officers in three different districts were dealing with incidents close together. She said key information was not shared among them, leading an officer to believe a suspect was armed and dangerous when they actually were not.
