ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is warning people to avoid the area of US-1 near Abbots Way due to an active search for a possibly violent subject who fled from deputies on a traffic stop.
SJSO says that during the afternoon hours of Thursday, Dec. 4, a suspect had fled from a traffic stop on I-95 in the area of International Golf Parkway.
After the attempted pit maneuver, SJSO says the suspect fled on foot, stole a van, and "fled at a high rate of speed" down IGP towards US-1. The vehicle was "ditched" near Abbots Way shortly after.
SJSO describes this incident as an "active situation," and for residents to stay clear of the area.
