LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - As LMPD faces increasing pressure to revise its police chase policy to go after accused criminals, KSP is ramping up its efforts in Jefferson County.
On Wednesday, KSP troopers pursued a driver who fled a traffic stop, a pursuit that stretched from the initial stop on I-65 to the Watterson Expressway and into the Buechel neighborhood onto Hikes Lane. During the pursuit, KSP alleges the driver, now identified as Jonathon Galloway, topped 114 mph, veered into oncoming traffic, almost hit a group of construction workers and crashed into several vehicles before stopping. He was extracted from his vehicle. KSP alleges Galloway had bloodshot eyes, and his car smelled strongly of marijuana, which they found bags inside.
The stop received praise from KSP.
