Jefferson County Pubic School Superintendent Brian Yearwood and his team will be "rethinking" some of a proposed plan to close three schools and relocate two others, he said Dec. 4.

"We have to operate in a realm that is best for students," Yearwood said following the third night of community forums in which dozens of students, staff and community members showed to voice their opposition to the plan. "We have to do the right things — to get this right — so we're going to be rethinking some things."

Yearwood then told the crowd of roughly 150 people gathered at the Van Hoose Educational Center to "stay tuned" and expect news soon.

While Yearwood did not explicitly say which part of the plan he is reconsidering, his announcement followed impassioned speeches by several people connected
