CLINTON, Iowa —
A former employee at an eastern Iowa brewery is facing felony charges after police say she stole more than $20,000.
Chiquita Austin, 44, has been charged with first- and second-degree theft and 12 counts of felony forgery. She used to work at Great Revivalist Brewery in Clinton, where police say she stole more than $21,000 through fraudulent checks and ticket sales.
According to court records, Austin told police she had an agreement with the brewery that she could keep profits from ticket sales of events she organized, and she used thousands to gamble at local casinos. The brewery denied having that agreement.
A preliminary hearing for Austin is set for Dec. 12.
