FRANKFORT, Ky. —

Two years after Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear signed a bill to legalize medical cannabis, it is close to being available in the commonwealth.

According to Beshear, that is about to change. With 48 dispensaries across the state, Beshear says the first one will be ready in a matter of weeks.

"I believe within the next couple of weeks that our first dispensary will have product on its shelf. That is the Ohio County dispensary that we think will be the first, but we believe it's going to scale up very quickly from that first moment," Beshear said.

Ohio County is located in the western part of the state, near Bowling Green.
