BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Leaders in the THC beverage industry met with state lawmakers to talk about how the industry could change in a matter of months.
State Senator Lindsey Port, (DFL - Burnsville) said she wanted to discuss how a provision added in the U.S. Senate bill to reopen the federal government will essentially ban hemp-derived THC products .
“It really will decimate this entire industry if it stays as it is with no changes,” Port said. “It’s a $200 million industry here in Minnesota.”
Port, along with other state lawmakers, toured Northern Diversified Solutions, a hemp processing company that purchases and processes hemp biomass brewers can use to produce hemp beverages.
They then sat down with industry leaders for a roundtable discussion.
