WILLIAMSPORT — A Lycoming County judge has dismissed the most serious homicide counts against the man accused of providing the drug that killed a Williamsport area woman in 2024.
Judge William P. Carlucci last week granted a defense motion and dismissed first and second-degree murder charges against Keith R. Reitz, 60, of the Williamsport suburb of Loyalsock Twp.
He let stand a count of third-degree murder, writing that, in his view, testimony presented at the preliminary hearing met the fairly low standard for a prima facie showing.
The judge found there was sufficient evidence that Reitz likely made a telephone call to the victim, Nicole Bassett, immediately before traveling to her home on Oct. 17, 2024.
