KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - At Kansas City’s Soccer Dome off Front Street, young soccer players with roots spanning multiple countries are united in their excitement for what Friday’s World Cup draw could bring to Kansas City.
The team captains of White Beans FC call Grandview and Raytown home, but their ancestral roots are in El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico. They hope hosting World Cup matches will bring more Americans into the fold of their favorite sport.
“Whenever you see a good game, it makes you want to play too. It’s like you’re there, in the game,” said Manuel Tapia, 17.
“Once you fall in love with it, you’ll see why so many people enjoy it,” said Andrew Cornejo, 16.
