Lansing — A nonprofit group that's backed by Michigan's largest electric utility, DTE Energy, contributed $550,000 to a fundraising account tied to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2024 and $750,000 to an account connected to state House Speaker Matt Hall.
The Detroit News obtained the annual tax filing of the group, Michigan Energy First, from its lawyer, Eric Doster, Wednesday evening, revealing nearly $3 million in political giving that had previously been secret.
