COLUMBUS, Ohio — With temperatures set to plummet overnight Thursday and snow still on the ground, Columbus warming centers are preparing for more people seeking safety from the cold, and officials say they’re ready.

For Anthony Jordan, the help couldn’t come at a more critical time.

“I’m currently homeless,” he told 10TV.

Jordan says he became homeless after the death of his grandmother.

“I wasn’t able to keep up with the mortgage and that’s how we came on the street,” he said.

He also can’t stay in a traditional shelter because of his dog, Aliyah.

“I kind of grew attached to the dog, and I didn’t want to leave it out while I was still inside. I can’t do that to my baby," he said.
