ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio —
An Anderson Township mother is celebrating being cancer free less than a year after she was given a stage three ovarian cancer diagnosis.
In January, as Jessica Gilbert and her husband were preparing to take their children on a family vacation, flu-like symptoms led her to develop sepsis, landing her in the hospital. Advertisement
Doctors at UC Medical Center discovered something concerning with her labs and diagnosed her with stage three ovarian cancer. Gilbert began chemotherapy and underwent a full hysterectomy.
On Thursday, Gilbert rang the bell to celebrate being cancer free.
Gilbert said the signs were there but hard to spot, including pain in her left abdomen, bloating and fatigue.
