"Rage bait," defined as content on the internet designed to make the consumer angry, has become prominent enough to make it the Oxford Word of the Year for 2025.
That sentence in itself might elicit some frustration, considering "rage bait" is two words. Right?
Don't worry, that's one of the first things Oxford Languages addresses in its proclamation.
"The Oxford Word of the Year can be a singular word or expression, which our lexicographers think of as a single unit of meaning," the release states.
