As Australia’s new Social Media Minimum Age (SMMA) law, also being called the social media ban, comes into force on December 10, governments worldwide are paying close attention. The law obliges age-restricted social media platforms to take “reasonable steps” to stop Australians under 16 from opening or keeping accounts.
