WASHINGTON (KCTV) — Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said the city is prepared to host 2026 World Cup matches, citing improvements to public transportation and security coordination as key factors in the city’s readiness. The mayor visited with KCTV5 the day before the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Draw.
Speaking in Washington, D.C., one day before FIFA’s final draw ceremony, Lucas said the moment feels real after years of preparation that began when he first took office.
“I feel very ready,” Lucas said. “I have always said that there are two priorities that we’re going to make sure we satisfy. One is safety and security. That is a key step.”
