PEORIA, Ill. – Residents of Peoria’s New Hope Apartments are able to return to their apartments to stay out of the frigid cold weather.

The supportive housing facility was condemned Thursday morning after a fire broke out on Tuesday , with concerns raised by the Peoria Fire Department.

The 80 tenants are able to return Friday after the Red Cross agreed to be stationed at the building for the next two weeks while the fire alarm system is being repaired.

Peoria Director of Community Development Joe Dulin tells 25 News it will help keep the residents out of the cold winter conditions.
