An Upstate New York restaurant chain has closed abruptly.
Swifty’s Restaurant & Pub announced Thursday that all of its locations, including in Utica, Delmar and Colonie, were “temporarily closed” due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
“We’re sorry for any inconvenience‚" Swifty’s official Facebook page said .
According to WKTV , a sign at the Utica Swifty’s said the property was being seized for nonpayment of taxes and is now in the possession of the State of New York.
A spokesperson for the State Department of Taxation and Finance said the owner, Dave Swift, owes a total of $2.2 million. The Times Union reports Swift has 15 separate warrants dating back to 2016 for unpaid sales and withholding taxes in Albany and Oneida counties.
