Syracuse, N.Y. — Christian Brothers Academy football’s immediate foe in Saturday’s Class AA title game is Saratoga Springs.
In the bigger, much more exclusive picture, however, the Brothers are battling for a spot in history.
A CBA win would give the program its third-straight state title, a feat accomplished by only a few other powerhouses in state history. Mike Hart-led Onondaga is the only Section III team to three-peat, from 2001-03.
Another CBA championship would also make it four in five years for the Brothers, adding to the one they picked up in 2021. CBA is also on a 40-game winning streak, and if it hits 41, that would tie with Dolgeville for second-longest in Section III history.
That championship Tigers team holds the section mark, at 43. The state mark is held by Maine-Endw
