KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - A teen is facing charges after police say he spat on officers after reportedly being drunk at a Kinston Family Dollar store.

Kinston police say on Tuesday, around 3:30 p.m., officers were called to the Family Dollar on Plaza Boulevard for a report of a disturbance between the store clerk and 18-year-old Les-Lee Dauwen.

When officers arrived, they tried to speak with both parties and determined that Dauwen needed to leave the store.

Police say Dauwen was extremely intoxicated and refused to comply with officers’ requests.

As officers were trying to escort him out of the store, police say the teen slapped and pushed an officer.

Dauwen was then placed under arrest.

According to police, while being put into the patrol car, Dauwen spat on officers.
